As a specialized service provider form.in GmbH implements versatile projects for its customers and manufactures and provides complex assemblies as well as high-precision individual parts made of metal and plastic. Following the guiding principle "From Design to Function", form.in takes over all necessary steps from designing to assembling for its customers which are from sectors such as beauty, medical technology, automotive and IT. The form.in production site in Eschbach in the Markgräflerland region is located in the middle of the economically strong border triangle between Germany, France and Switzerland, with a view of the southern Black Forest.

The challenge
form.in's machinery has been significantly expanded and modernized in the recent years and now covers all the key manufacturing technologies for parts and component production. The combined punch/laser machine TruMatic 7000 from TRUMPF offers flexible processing options for sheet metal parts. However, the machine requires customized NC programs to fully exploit its strengths. The same applies to the TruBend 5130 press brake from TRUMPF, which is also part of the machinery park. That's why experienced professionals work in work preparation at form.in – but even professionals sometimes need support especially when the order situation is good. For this reason, Hugo Aschwanden, Executive Partner at form.in, was looking for flexible partner for NC programming - and found it in ScaleNC.

The team at ScaleNC has a high level of manufacturing expertise and many years of practice in programming highly productive laser as well as in punching and bending machines. Customers can flexibly order on-demand NC programming through an intuitive cloud platform – per individual sheet metal part or manufacturing job.
The solution
ScaleNC supports form.in in in NC programming of the TruMatic 7000 and TruBend 5130 machines. Form.in employees from the design and work preparation department upload 3D models to the ScaleNC platform and order required NC programs. ScaleNC creates the NC programs based on precisely fitting unfoldings and makes them available for production on the following workday.
During programming, ScaleNC specialists take all relevant manufacturing specifications into account, such as the bending and punching tools available at form.in and individual shortening values for the unfolding. To make this possible, the collaboration started with a joint onboarding process, during which the necessary information was retrieved and transferred by ScaleNC from the programming systems available at form.in. Subsequently, the CAD/CAM specialists from form.in and ScaleNC jointly created a programming guide that describes all the important requirements and manufacturing strategies specific to form.in – and will be expanded over time. Not least due to the personal exchange, a trusting cooperation between the teams of both companies was quickly established.
